yay... crawling...

Our little Samara has been working incredibly hard on her crawling the last few weeks. She learned to move from sitting to a crawling position a few weeks ago and then learned how to crawl... but only backwards. Poor Samara would get so frustrated because she would want to go forwards to get something or to come to mommy or daddy but could only go backwards. We were happy to see her move around but sad to see her so frustrated.

She's been working hard at it the last couple weeks and today, for the first time, she crawled forward. She's excited and so are we!

I've been working on teaching Sarina a little about football. Here she's practicing running for touchdowns. I haven't yet gotten to the part that stopping to give your little sister a kiss isn't part of the game (you can hear her when running say "I want to give samara a kiss."

Samara and Sock Monkey

Samara was in good spirits after her first day of school, as evidenced by her laughing at sock monkey in this video. OK, so maybe she was so exhausted from not napping at school that she was giddy! Either way we were all glad to see her smiles after a long day without her. Sarina gave her a Dora sticker for being a good girl - and got a little bit excited with sock monkey at the end of this video (you'll need ear plugs)

Nalin and Kavita's wedding

We took a roadtrip to LA last weekend and went to celebrate the wedding of Nalin and Kavita. It was an exceptionally beautiful wedding, a surprisingly eventless drive and a fun weekend overall in LA. Sarina loved going to the swimming pool (especially the hot pool) daily and got to wear all sorts of adorable outfits. Samara was her easy going self throughout the travel. Congratulations to Nalin and Kavita and thank for the excuse to dress everyone up!

East Coast Grandparent trip

We had a great trip to the East Coast to visit both sets of grand parents. Sarina loved playing with Dadi and Dadu every morning. She particularly liked making tea for Dadu and making sure he said "thank you" when she gave it to him. "Dadu, can you say Thank you?" Samara enjoyed her morning snuggles with Dadi!

In Toronto Sarina and Samara enjoyed playing in the backyard with Aji and Abba and going to the park. Sarina liked trying Aji's cooking even though she wasn't feeling well. She also had a ton of fun with Tanvi didi.

All in all a great trip. We miss you Dadi, Dadu, Aji and Abba.

July Tahoe Trip

I am just catching up on July photos now. We have been trying to make it to Lake Tahoe in the summers to enjoy the outdoors. This year Priscilla and Dan brought Helen and baby Keith and our friends Sheewon and Andy joined us. Sarina got to go swimming in the same pool she swam in her very first swim. Mommy got to celebrate her birthday with her family! Daddy got to bond with little Samara. Sarina and Helen played pretend all day long. A good time was had by all!

Happy Birthday Dadu!

We were lucky enough to be in Buffalo for Dadu's birthday this year. Sarina loved saying good morning to Dadu every morning and making him pretend tea. She always loves singing happy birthday and this year was particularly excited about the Sarina friendly ice cream and cake. :)

We celebrated Mommy's birthday in Lake Tahoe this year. We celebrated with Mango Sorbet than Sarina could eat (and she polished off an adult sized bowl of it.) Here's Sarina wishing Mommy a happy birthday.

We had the pleasure of having brunch with our friends Monali & Sekhar (and their kids Meena and Naveen) at Noela & Sunil (and their little guy Aidan) on Saturday. Noela is a budding photographer (and makes awesome homemade waffles) on the side and took these AMAZING photos of our family. Surprisingly, Sarina even looked at the camera once or twice without sticking her tongue out. :) Enjoy!!

Big Girl Bed..

Today was another one of those "she's growing up too fast" days. Sarina got a new big girl bed and was super excited to sleep in it. Here she is having her afternoon nap on her big girl bed (rabbit sleeping besides her) and the crib she's slept in since birth empty besides her...
